The learning outcomes are described in competencies which you will acquire during this programme.
Knowledge and understanding
Knowledge and understanding provide a basis or opportunity for originality in developing or applying ideas in a research context:
- You reflect and theorizie upon the impact of society, culture and diversity on occupation and participation for health and well being of individuals and communities
- You reflect and theorize upon personal and contextual factors that influence the identity of profession of occupational therapy.
- You reflect on epistemology and ontology when exploring research questions within the field of occupational science and occupational therapy.
- You reflect on appropriate scientific methodology and methods when exploring research questions
Applying knowledge and understanding
Applying knowledge and understanding through problem solving abilities in new or unfamiliar environments within broader contexts:
- You reflect on and hypothesize upon complex issues from several theoretical perspectives within occupational therapy, occupational science and related scientific disciplines.
- You create and conduct a rigorous, ethical and coherent research project to answer questions within the discipline, situate the findings within theoretical framework(s) and national or international contexts, as appropriate.
- You generate suitable strategies to collect and interpret data for their research question.
- You generate improvements and possible innovations in OT/OS by implementing findings on national or international levels.
Making judgements
Making judgments demonstrates the ability to integrate knowledge and handle complexity, and formulate judgements with incomplete data and requires being capable of critical analysis:
- You critically review concepts such as occupation and participation.
- You critically review and theorize upon the contextual structures influencing OT practice and OS.
- You compose a coherent vision on the complex relation between occupation, health and well being related to your own academic work
- You reflect and theorize upon the chosen methods for data collection and analysis in your own research project.
- You reflect on implementation and generalisation of their findings to fields within and outside occupational therapy.
- You make judgments regarding the ethical issues in your research project. (and act according to that)
Communication
Communication of your conclusions and the underpinning knowledge and rationale to specialist and non-specialist audiences:
- You disseminate by presenting oraly and in writing according scientific criteria the acquired knowledge from your research project to specialists and non-specialists audiences.
- You communicate orally and in writing your research project in a synthesised way to contribute to the continuing scientific discourse in the discipline of occupational therapy and occupational science.
- You present how the findings can be implemented in the professional and societal context.
Learning skills
Learning to study in a manner that may be largely self-directed or autonomous:
- You reflect on skills of life long learning by critically reflecting upon your personal and professional development.
- You generating your own learning needs and searching, finding, and retrieving appropriate information.
- You apply the competences in knowledge and understanding, applying knowledge and understanding, making judgements and communication in an independent, autonomous and self-directed way.
What I learned during the OT EuroMasters course:
'That occupational therapists in Europe have quite different understandings of OT and intervention areas, this was really a surprise to me.'
'That there is an EU OT research community, still a bit fragile, but it will grow.'
'Besides all the topics covered, such as research methodology, sociology, professional history, cultural aspects and many more, the most important thing I learned was to open up my mind much more and try to see OT in a much wider context.'

What is it like to be an OT EuroMasters student:
'What fascinates me, in this combination of contact hours, self study, supervision and exchange from different European countries, is the experience of discovering potential in myself, that I was never aware of before.'
'The pleasure of reading, reflection and writing; experiencing the sense of engagement in occupation.'
'The international context gives me a broader view of OT, research in OT and developments in OT.'
